Lyn Norton,
Art Instructor

Blessings Art Academy’s director, Lyn Norton and her husband, Dale, are retired Wycliffe Missionaries. Lyn was a Graphic Artist and Illustrator for Wycliffe. In February of 2001, Lyn was recruited to teach art classes on the SIL campus. That is when she fell in love with teaching.

We are proud to announce that in February of 2005, Lyn completed training in Florida to become certified as a Terry Madden Watercolor teacher. It is an honor to be affiliated with PBS's most popular painting teacher. We love Terry's positive, easy going, "You can do it!", teaching style. It is a teaching style that Lyn believes in and practices.

The response to the Blessings Art Academy has been over whelmingly positive. Severe budget cuts in our public school districts have caused the reduction of many fine arts programs in our public schools. Parents all over the Metroplex are now excited about the enrichment opportunities being offered by Blessings Art Academy.

Recently both Lyn and her students have been winning awards for their art works in local competitions. The awards and her well organized, high-quality curriculum has helped Lyn to earn a solid reputation as an effective art teacher for children and adults.

Sharrie Carroll,
Art Instructor

My family and I relocated to Texas because of my husband's job transfer in February of 2006, from Santa Maria, California. We are pleased to be acquainting ourselves to the beautiful Texas scenery & culture. My husband, Perry and I will soon be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We are the proud parents of three school-aged children ranging from intermediate to college level.

My art background includes instruction in Fine Arts, Illustration, and Graphic Arts at Allan Hancock Community College, California State University Fresno, and California State University Northridge. I have experience in a variety of media such Oil Painting, Watercolor, Acrylics and Pastels. Over the years I have taught art both privately and in group settings. I was the Arts and Crafts Director of the children’s program at the YMCA and then later for a local home schooling association. For a number of years, I also taught both children and adults from my home-based studio in California.

I am passionate about art, especially teaching art to children. Since the spring of 2007, I have been assisting Lyn at Blessings Academy with both after school classes and the summer art camps. I am thrilled at this opportunity to share my knowledge and love of art! You can be sure that I will continue to teach the foundational art principals with the same love and gentleness you’ve come to expect at Blessings Art Academy.
